LA on Film

Exploring Los Angeles in 35mm

January 29th- February 2, 2026.

There’s something unique about LA.

I had spent time in Orange County before, but never really explored Los Angeles itself. When my friend Cheech invited me down for the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona—coincidentally over his birthday—it felt like the stars were aligning. So why not check it out and see what LA has to offer?

Cheech knew exactly where to go, showing me a handful of cool spots he was sure I’d love. My visit was short, and with so much to see, we made the most of every moment. This included a taco tour and indulging in all the Mexican desserts. Everything was delicious. And did you know there’s a van—much like an ice cream truck—that cruises through neighbourhoods selling Mexican sweets? Truly mind-blowing.

LA has a unique vibe, with a history that really stands out. Broadway, especially, has that beautifully worn, once-busy charm, lined with old theatres and hotels. Even the Cecil Hotel sits among them, a reminder that some places have seen it all.

One day, we went on a mission to find Ferris Bueller’s house—one of my favourite childhood movies. And yes, we found it. We even stopped by the original McDonald’s in Downey, simple, nostalgic, and strangely fascinating in person.

We also spent time in Long Beach, enjoying ice cream beside the Queen Mary on a beautiful night with a full moon out. And let’s not forget the 27° weather in January—an absolute dream.

LA left me wanting more—and, of course, more tacos to taste. Consider this just the first roll of film
